Be Calm

What does it mean to be calm? Is this something difficult or easy for you to do?

Imagine for a second that you are one of the Israelites, in Exodus 14, being lead out of Egypt by Moses, You are encamped between two mountains and the sea, as the Lord instructed Moses. As you are camping there, Pharaoh and his 600 plus chariots are coming toward you. What is your first thought? Is it to panic? Is it to lash out at Moses? Yes, that would be a reaction for me, too. And that is exactly what the Israelites did.

"But, Moses told the people, 'Don't be afraid. Just stand still and watch the Lord rescue you today. The Egyptians you see today will never be seen again. The Lord himself will fight for you. Just stay calm.' "

- Exodus 14:13-14 NLT

I would recommend getting out your Bible and reading the rest of the story in Exodus 14. Wow! It is pretty amazing the power of our Heavenly Father. He did the impossible by parting the Red Sea and allowing the Israelites to walk on dry land to get to the other side and destroying the Egyptian Army. He is our God - the God that can do the impossible. He fought for the Israelites.

And He will fight for you. If the Lord God brought you to it. He will bring you through it.

Being calm in a situation is not easy. It is an active choice to do this each and every day. We need to be aware of God's presence in our life and that we can not do what only He can do. We need to trust and believe - allowing God to fight for us! Keep His Word close to your heart. So, that in times of trouble, you can focus on Him and not your circumstances. Look up - pray to God and He will fight for you!!

Do you have God in your life? Have you every made the decision to place God at the center of your life? To repent from your sins? Today can be that day! You just have to repent of your sins and say, "Yes to God" and He will give you eternal life.
